who we serve

Serving all of Rhode Island, Amenity Aid distributes toiletry necessities through its network of agencies, similar to how the food bank distributes food.

We are a collaborative organization, creating strong and long-lasting partnerships with community leaders and organizations who understand the unique and specific needs of the people they serve.

We believe that access to hygiene products is a basic right and a universal human need.

Amenity Aid supports Rhode Islanders of all ages and backgrounds and makes a concerted effort to provide hygiene resources to the most low-income communities and those who are marginalized and exploited. This can include, but is not limited to, students, low-income residents, victims of violence and trauma, veterans, BIPOC communities, refugees, immigrants, those experiencing mental health issues, those who are unhoused, at-risk LGBTQQIA+ youths, sex workers and anyone who cannot afford basic needs.

Partner Agency Network

Amenity Aid currently works with 10 partner agencies. Lack of access to hygiene products is not an isolated issue, and our goal is to be present and support community organizations throughout the state. Our partners are selected because of their geographic location, the populations they serve, and their ability to distribute hygiene products as part of their programming.

Our local partners include shelters, food pantries, veteran support agencies, domestic violence organizations, and other community groups who support underserved communities. We work with partners to determine their needs, and then ensure these agencies are always stocked with toiletry necessities. Partners receive product donations from Amenity Aid once a month, or as their demand dictates.

Amenity Aid takes the time to understand the unique needs of the clients served through these partner agencies. From conversations with partner leadership, we ask about cultural preferences around period products, ages and genders of clients to ensure the right product types are provided, and details on how products are distributed to clients. By conducting this assessment, we can determine whether full-size products, travel hygiene kits, or both would serve the needs of their clients and how often they need their inventory replenished.

Our Network of Partner Agencies

Collaborator Agencies

In response to the pandemic we expanded our distribution of life-saving soap to other Rhode Island-based organizations. Thanks to the generous support from Bradford Soap Works, we provide bar soap on a monthly basis during our soap distribution days, to our collaborator agencies. Other hygiene products are available on a limited basis when we have a surplus to share. .

We offer one or two soap distribution days each month. On Tuesdays and Thursdays All registered collaborators will receive an email to sign up using our online ordering system.

Any Rhode Island-based group that works directly with vulnerable populations can sign up to be a collaborator agency. This is a group of organizations that are not in our partner network, but want to request hygiene products.

As we secure more funding to grow our program, collaborators in good standing will be considered to join our partner agency network.

We are actively looking for new collaborators to build our network and serve more Rhode Islanders in need. This helps us collect data that reflects the local need for hygiene essentials to show funders. Sign up to be a collaborator here.
