period packing parties

Two in five people have struggled to purchase period products.

That’s according to a 2021 study by U by Kotex. It’s also a 35% increase from the brand's initial research in 2018, highlighting the economic impact of COVID-19 in the U.S.

The issue is called period poverty, and it disrupts everything from attendance in school, ability to work, and having to choose between paying for food or period products.

Period poverty is happening in our community, and Amenity Aid has a solution to end it. We are Rhode Island’s leading experts in sourcing and distributing hygiene necessities for organizations that serve those in need.

How it Works

Amenity Aid provides all the materials and guidance needed to host an engaging and memorable volunteer event. Hosting a period packing party includes:

  • Organizing a group of volunteers to participate.
  • Securing a location, time, and place to host the party.
  • Fundraising the cost (or making a direct donation) to allow Amenity Aid to purchase products, supplies and coordinate this project. This step is crucial since Amenity Aid can buy tampons and pads in bulk at rock bottom prices that are not available to the public.
  • Hands-on volunteer time for participants by having them package period kits.
  • Education on the issue of period poverty and how your volunteer event is helping local women.
